Resettlement Action Planning


  • Resettlement to comply with all applicable national and state legislation, regulations and guidelines
  • Approach was informed by International Best Practice commonly defined by IFC’s Policy and Performance Standards on Social and Environmental Sustainability (2012), and specifically:
  • Performance Standard 5 – Land Acquisition and Involuntary Resettlement
  • In PS 5, involuntary resettlement refers both to physical displacement and to economic displacement caused by project land acquisition
  • A resettlement consultant was engaged for advise on international best practice roadmap 

Resettlement Milestone

  • People and Property Count has been carried out and completed in 2007
  • OKLNG engaged an international resettlement consultant rePlan to develop a Resettlement Action Plan (RAP)
  • Extensive community engagement and consultation has been conducted
  • A Resettlement site has also been selected for affected population
  • Draft Resettlement Action Plan has been produced and being revised. It is a roadmap to sustainable resettlement programme
  • Ogun State Government has paid statutory compensation to many crop owners in accordance with Land Use Act
